Abstract

The #KaburAjaDulu trend among Indonesian youth has attracted responses from the Japanese government through various initiatives promoting Japanese culture and living opportunities. This research focuses on to examine how The Japanese government policy shaping International Relations students in Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur (UMKT) migration intention heading Japan. This quantitative study was conducted using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) based on the Theory of Planned Behavior, using attitude, subjective norm and perceived behavioral control as predictors of migration intention. Questionnaires measured by 5-point Likert scale were used to collect the data among the students. The findings suggest that all the three variables have a significant effect on migration intention and subjective norm is the most important one. The findings can be helpful for policymakers and educational institutions for designing more specific strategies regarding education, cross-cultural communication and migration policy.
